The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team's fourth-quarter rally came up short in a 16-13 loss at Arcadia, Wednesday.
Down 14-7, the Cougars scored four straight goals to get within 14-11 with 6:11 to play, but couldn't get any closer.
Kyle Vandenberg and
Ryan Vandenberg combined for eight goals and an assist and
Robert Wagner had four assists.
Michael Kilgallon III had a goal and two assists and
Connor Bevan scored twice.
Spencer Sundeberg had four groundballs and two caused turnovers and
Matt Coates made 11 saves in the second half.
After Arcadia scored in the opening minute of the game,
Ryan Vandenberg sandwiched a pair of goals around tallies from
Michael Kilgallon III and Connor Gunderson as the Cougars took a 4-1 lead midway thought the first quarter.
Arcadia answered with five straight goals and added a string of six straight goals in the second and third quarters to take a 14-7 lead with 8:53 left in the third quarter.
Ryan Vandenberg scored late in the third period and
Kyle Vandenberg scored twice in a minute early  in the fourth to get MU within 14-10.
Bevan scored with 6:17 to play, but the Knights answered with two straight goals.
