The Misericordia University baseball team increased its win streak to nine with a doubleheader sweep at Stevens, Friday.

The Cougars won 4-2, 3-1 to improve to 22-5 overall and 11-2 in the MAC Freedom.

Derrick Vosburg had three hits and two RBI in the opener and
Joe Comins had two hits, including a solo homer.
Â
David McCurry struck out six and allowed just two hits to earn the complete game win.

In the nightcap,
Steve Rinda struck out nine in five innings to earn the win and
Max Oliver got a strikeout with two runners on to notch a save.

Connor Maryniak hit a two-run homer and
Garrett McIlhenney had two hits.

In the opener, Comins led off the second inning with a solo homer to put the Cougars in front.

McIlhenney reached via hit by pitch to open the third and came around to score on back-to-back singles by
Brock Bollinger and Vosburg.

Brendan Gray walked to start the fourth and stole second. With two outs, Vosburg singled up the middle to make it 3-0.

After Stevens got two runs back on a homer in the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars added an insurance run in the seventh.

Vosburg led off with a ground-rule double in the seventh.Â
Brady Madden reached on an infield single and Vosburg came home on an error on the play.

McCurry allowed a single to start the seventh, but induced a double-play grounder and got a strikeout to end the game.

In the nightcap, McIlhenney reached on a bunt single to open the game and moved up on Bollinger's single through the right side. McIlhenney advanced to third on Vosburg's fly out to deep center and came home with the first run of the game on Madden's sacrifice fly.

Stevens tied it the third and the Cougars went back in front in the sixth. Comins drew a one-out walk and Maryniak homered on the first pitch to make it 3-1.
