The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team advanced to the MAC Freedom semifinals against Stevens with a 19-5 win over FDU-Florham, Monday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kyle Vandenberg had three goals to set a new school record with 54 on the season and
Robert Wagner had four goals and three assists.
Ryan Vandenberg and
Connor Bevan both had three goals and an assist and
Michael Kilgallon III had two goals and an assist.
Nick Mehnert was 11-19 on face-offs and had four ground balls and two assists.
Sean Wallace made eight saves in three quarters in goal.
Kilgallon fired a shot inside the left post in the opening minute and
Kyle Vandenberg inside the right post to make it 2-0 a minute later.
Wagner scored on a low shot from 10 yards out and followed with a tough-angle goal from the left side to make it 4-0 with 7:24 to play in the first quarter.
FDU-Florham got on the board with 4:00 to go in the period, but the Cougars answered with six goals to open the second quarter.
The Vandenbergs both scored in the final 30 seconds of the second period to give MU a 13-2 halftime lead.
Kyle Vandenberg opened the third quarter with a caused turnover, ground ball and a goal to break the school single-season goal mark and give MU a 14-2 lead.
Ryan Vandenberg added two goals in the third quarter and has 52 on the season.
The Cougars will play at #20 Stevens, Wednesday at 7:00.
