The Misericordia University baseball team dropped the opening game of the MAC Freedom championship series, 6-2, Friday at Arcadia.
Derrick Vosburg,
Brendan Gray,
Joe Comins and
Jack Regenye all had two hits for the Cougars.
Down 2-0, the Cougars cut the deficit in half in the sixth. Vosburg singled up the middle and advanced on a wild pitch and came home on Gray's single to left center.
The Knights answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-1 lead.
The Cougars got a run back in the top of the ninth. Regenye led off with an infield single and moved to second on
Garrett McIlhenney's single up the middle. Regenye scored on a fielder's choice and
Madden singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. But MU the runners there with the potential tying-run on deck.
The teams will meet again Saturday at noon with the 'if necessary' game to follow.
