The Misericordia University men's soccer team ended its long rivalry with Cabrini with a 1-0 win, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Luke Ferrarese scored the only goal of the game in the 20
th minute with an assist from
Anthony Yarabinee as the Cougars ended the series with an eight-game winning streak.

The teams met seven straight times in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference postseason from 1995-2001 and Misericordia won the all-time series, 13-10-1.

Max Gariano nearly gave the Cougars the lead in the sixth minute, but his breakaway shot was denied on a diving save by the Cavaliers keeper.

Yarabinee's volley from 10 yards out was also denied on a diving stop at 12:49.

The third time was the charm for the Cougars off a throw in that Yarabinee played to Ferrarese who slotted a shot into the right corner at 19:52.

Charlton Alonso made three saves to earn the shutout.

The Cougars will open MAC Freedom play when they host Lebanon Valley, Saturday.
