The Misericordia University women's basketball team's rally came up just short in their 59-50 loss at FDU-Florham, Saturday.
The Cougars fell behind 22-8 after one period, but charged back to get within two minutes early in the fourth quarter.
Jocelyn Grosch had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds while
Skylar Bianchi added 11 points.
Samantha Casey grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Cougars used a big third quarter to battle back from a 35-19 halftime deficit.
Alyssa Bondi hit three straight three-pointers to open the second half and get the Cougars within 37-28.
Skylar Bianchi made a jumper in the lane and Grosch added a pair of free throws to make it 39-32 midway through the third quarter.
Bianchi made a three-pointer and added another short jumper to cut the deficit to 47-45 with 7:21 to play.
The Devils went up 53-47, but Grosch answered with a three-pointer to get within 53-50 with 1:24 to go.
FDU-Florham made six free throws over the final 15 seconds to clinch the win.
