The Misericordia University men's basketball team suffered
its first conference loss against Arcadia, 84-72, Wednesday evening at Arcadia.
Nate Kreitzer led the Cougars with 28 points and went 5-5 from the foul line
while Kevin Lazdowsky and Joe Baldachino added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Derek Smith had a team-high 10 rebounds.
Kreitzer converted a three-point play less than minutes into the game to give the Cougars a 7-6 lead, but Arcadia scored five straight points to take the lead for good.
Baldachino hit a three-pointer and a free throw to bring Arcadia's lead down to only three points with eight minutes remaining.
Kreitzer scored 10 straight points for the Cougars to pull within 39-35 with 1:17 to go.
Lazdowsky and Kreitzer opened up the scoring in the first two minutes of the second half to bring the score to 43-39, but Arcadia responded and went on a 9-3 run.
With six minutes to go,
RJ Weise converted two free throws and Kreitzer followed with a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 65-62.
Arcadia went on to take a 76-67 lead with 3:11 to go. Baldachino scored a 3-pointer to make the score 76-70 with 2:50 remaining.
Kreitzer made a layup with less than one minute remaining, but Arcadia added a basket in the closing seconds for the final margin.
