Kevin Lazdowsky scored 23 points, including the game-winning basket with 5.5 seconds to play, to lift the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 66-65 win over Delaware Valley, Saturday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.
Nick Hornung added 12 points and 10 rebounds and
Nate Kreitzer had nine points and seven assists as the Cougars improved to 12-7 overall and 6-2 in the MAC Freedom.
The Cougars fell behind early and didn't take their first lead until
Joseph Baldachino made a pair of free throws to put them ahead, 38-37, with 14:34 to play.
Misericordia maintained the lead for the remainder of the game until the Aggies scored four straight points to take a 65-62 lead with :29 to play.
Lazdowsky made a short jumper from the left baseline with 16.2 to go and drove the lane for the game-winning layup.
Del Val's three-point attempt was off the mark and a tip-in attempt fell off the rim at the buzzer.
The Aggies jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead and held the advantage throughout the first half.
Down 32-26 at halftime,
Derek Smith opened the second half with a free throw and then drained a three-pointer from in front of the MU bench and added the 'and-1' to cut the margin to 34-31.
Lazdowsky scored on a drive and Baldachino buried a three-pointer from the right corner to get the Cougars within 37-36.
After Baldachino put MU in front, Lazdowsky hit a three-pointer from the left corner and Kreitzer converted a three-point play to give MU its biggest lead of the game, 44-37, with 13:23 to play.
