The Misericordia University women's volleyball team picked up its 20
th win of the season with a 3-0 win over Alvernia, Thursday night on Doc Mould Court.
Cassandra Genduso led the Cougars with nine kills and three aces and
Meghan Peters and
Keira McCaffrey had eight and seven kills, respectively.
Jenna Schuda had 25 assists and two aces.
MU won 25-19, 25-19, 25-17 to improve to 20-4.
Trailing 15-12 in the opener, Schuda had two aces as the Cougars scored four straight points to take a 16-15 lead.
Genduso had all three of her aces as part of a 5-0 run to give the Cougars a 24-18 lead.
In the second set, the Cougars used a 9-2 run to go in front, 11-7. McCaffrey and Peters had back-to-back kills to stretch the lead to 23-17.
Misericordia jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed in the finale.
MU used a 7-2 run to build an 18-8 advantage and held off a late Alvernia rally.
