The Elmira College women's basketball team rallied for a 61-51 win over Misericordia University, Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Center.

Emily Romanowski led the Cougars with 11 points and 11 rebounds and
Jocelyn Grosch added 11 points.

The Cougars jumped out to an 18-10 lead after one period, but Elmira rallied to take a 27-25 halftime lead and never trailed again.

MU pulled even, 29-29, early in the third quarter, but Elmira answered with a 10-0 run to take a 39-29 lead.

Grosch did most of her damage in the first quarter with nine of her 11 points coming in the opening stanza.

She made back-to-back layups to give the Cougars a 6-3 lead and buried a three-pointer from the left wing to make it 9-5 midway through the period.

Another Grosch layup and consecutive buckets from Romanowski stretched MU's lead to 15-5 with 2:33 to go.

Morgan Janeski hit a three-pointer to up the lead to 18-8 with just under two minutes remaining.

Ava Cirigliano made a short jumper to open the second period and extend the lead to 20-10, but Elmira scored 10 straight points over the next five minutes to tie the score, 20-20.

Cirigliano's putback gave MU a 25-23 lead with 2:35 left in the first half, but Elmira scored four straight points to take a 27-25 lead.
