Aiden Hidlay finished in fifth place at 285 pounds to lead the Misericordia University wrestling team at the Wilkes Open, Friday.

After a scoreless first period, Hidlay scored a reversal midway through the second against Luke Abilio of Wilkes. He added two four-point near falls in the final minute of the match to secure an 11-1 major decision.

He was pinned by Levi Andrews of Appalachian State in the quarterfinals, but rebounded for a 5-0 win over Steven Ramirez of Marymount in his consolation bracket opener. He took a 1-0 lead with an escape early in the second period and added a takedown late in the period. He rode Ramirez out in the third to pick up a riding time point and win 5-0.

Hidlay scored an escape early in the second period and added to stalling points to take a 3-0 lead over Trevor Gitski of Wilkes in the consie semifinals. He allowed an escape in the third period and held on to win, 3-1.

He earned a takedown in overtime to earn a 9-6 sudden victory over William Grace in the fifth-place bout.

Michael Williams went 4-2, but lost in the consolation semifinals at 149. He hit a seven-point takedown and near fall early in the first period and cruised to 10-1 major over TJ Martin of Penn College in opener.

After losing 10-3 to Julian Everitt in quarters, he recorded six takedowns in a 20-5 technical fall in his consolation opener. He got a late takedown to bet Ben Grater of Wilkes, 4-1,Â

He got an escape and a takedown early in the second period and went on to a 4-2 win over Shane Reilly of Army Prep.

He was eliminated by Zachary Vera of NJCU in consie semis.

Chase Stephen went 1-2 at 157 pounds. In between a pair of tech fall losses, he scored three takedowns on the way to a quick 13-2 lead before recording a first period pin of Adam Razzaq of Marymount.

Anthony Matas got an escape and a takedown in the third period to come from behind to beat William Knapp, 10-9, in the opener.

Robbie Anderson raced out to a 12-7 lead before third period fall over Patrick Gordan of Wilkes for his only win of the day 184 pounds.
