Susquehanna Edges MU Men's Lax

The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season in a thrilling 9-8 decision to Susquehanna, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Michael Kilgallon III and Brendan Stanley led the Cougars with two goals each and Jared Pelliccione had a goal and an assist.

Aiden D'Ambrosio had two assists and Jake Louis, Connor Bevan and Connor Gundersen all added goals.

Trey Stasse had six ground balls and four caused turnovers and Pelliccione, Danny D'Amato, Ryan Ott and Spencer Sundeberg all had three ground balls.

Chris Dindino made 22 saves in goal and added six ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Pelliccione put the Cougars up 8-7 with 9:43 to play, but the River Hawks scored twice in the final 6:22 to secure the win.

Stanley gave the Cougars the lead less than three minutes into the game and the score stood through the remainder of the first quarter.

Susquehanna scored four times in a three-minute span in the second quarter to take a 4-1 lead.

Kilgallon whipped a shot from the right wing just under the crossbar and Louis came from behind the net to stuff a shot inside the right post to get MU within 4-3 with 2:06 left in the second quarter.

The River Hawks took a 6-3 lead early in the third quarter, but the Cougars responded with four straight goals to go back in front.

Kilgallon rolled to his left and slipped a shot inside the left post and Stanley placed a shot in the right corner off a nice feed from Pelliccione with 9:14 to go in the third period.

Gundersen turned and fired from the left wing for the tying goal and Bevan placed a perfect low shot inside the left post to give MU a 7-6 lead with less than a minute to play in the third quarter.

Susquehanna tied it with 10:16 to play and Pelliccione put the Cougars back on top less than a minute later with a goal from the left post off a perfect pass from D'Ambrosio.
