The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team's fourth-quarter rally came up short in an 18-14 loss at Alfred, Saturday.

The Cougars scored five straight goals to get within 15-14 with 4:39 to play, but the Saxons scored three goals over the final 3:08 to secure the win.

Connor Bevan led the Cougars with five goals and an assist and
Jared Pelliccione added three goals.

Connor Gundersen had two goals and an assist and Michael Kilgallon scored twice.

Bevan added six ground balls and
William Troiano had four ground balls and a caused turnover.

The Saxons took a 6-1 lead after one quarter and scored twice early in the second period to make it 8-1.

MU scored four goals over the final 10:00 of the first half to get within 9-5 at halftime.

Ty Murawski and Kilgallon scored midway through the third period to cut the margin to 12-9, but Alfred scored twice later in the quarter to go up 14-9.

Down 15-9 early in the fourth, Bevan and Gundersen scored two goals each as part of a 5-0 run to get within 15-14.
