The Misericordia University men's basketball team dropped a tough 68-62 decision to Arcadia in a key MAC Freedom match-up, Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.
Nate Kreitzer led the Cougars with 20 points while
Kevin Lazdowsky had 18 and R.J. Weise added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Trailing 64-59 with less than a minute to play,
Jack Gallagher stole the inbounds pass and Kreitzer found Weise on the left wing where he buried a three-pointer to get MU within 64-62 with :25 left.
The Knights converted four free throws in the final 20 seconds to clinch the win.
In a sluggish second half, the Knights eventually built a 52-44 lead with 12:25 remaining, but the Cougars charged back with an 8-0 run.
Kreitzer drilled a deep three-pointer from the top of the key to beat the shot clock and followed with a step-back three to get within 52-50.
Lazdowsky tied it, 52-52, on a turn-around jumper along the right baseline off an inbounds pass with 8:54 to go.
Nick Prociak's putback gave MU its last lead of the night, 54-52, with 7:11 to play.
