The Misericordia University baseball team swept at doubleheader at King's to complete the series sweep, Thursday.
Joe Valenti struck out six and allowed just three hits in six shutout innings of relief in a 7-3 win in the opener and
Brock Bollinger drove in four runs in a 20-3 win in the nightcap.
Garrett McIlhenney had three hits in the opener and
Jack Regenye, Bollinger,
Joe Comins and
Jared Hoffman all had two hits.
Down 3-2 after one inning, the Cougars took the lead for good with three runs in the third. Bollinger led off with a bunt single and
Connor Maryniak hit his sixth homer of the season to give MU a 4-3 lead. Hoffman singled and later scored on
Brooks Kanwisher's single through the left side.
MU added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth on
Gabe Bunn's squeeze bunt and McIlhenney's RBI-double.
Bollinger had three hits in the nightcap and Maryniak and Hoffman both drove in three runs. Maryniak struck out four and scattered four hits over four innings to earn the win.
Bollinger doubled in a run in the top of the first and singled in the first run of a nine-run second inning and had a two-run single with his second hit of the inning.
Maryniak aided his own cause with a pair of run-scoring hits in an eight-run fourth inning as the Cougars built a 20-0 lead.
