The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team jumped out to a big lead and held off a late rally to defeat Albright, 17-13, Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars built an 11-4 lead early in the third quarter before the Lions rallied to tie the game, 12-12, early in the fourth period.
Connor Bevan and
Brendan Stanley combined for five goals in a seven minute span as the Cougars regained the lead for good.
Bevan had seven goals and an assist to lead the Cougars while Stanley added four goals and an assist.
Michael Kilgallon III and
Jared Pelliccione both added two goals and an assist.
Spencer Sundeberg had two ground balls and a team-high five caused turnovers while
Trey Stasse added five ground balls.
Albright took a 1-0 lead in the opening minute, but MU rallied with five straight goals to take a 5-1 lead with 3:58 left in the first quarter.
Misericordia scored three times in the final 4:16 of the first half and
Connor Gundersen scored early in the third period to make it 11-4.
