Box Score Connor Maryniak threw a complete game as the Misericordia University baseball team edged Marietta, 2-1, in a battle of nationally-ranked teams, Wednesday afternoon in Port Charlotte, FL.

Maryniak struck out nine and scattered nine hits to lead the #13 Cougars over #24 Marietta.

The Cougars got all the runs they would need in the second inning and Maryniak made them stand up.

Joe Comins reached via hit by pitch to open the top of the second and moved up on a sacrifice and came around with the game's first run when Jared Hoffman reached on an infield error.  Hoffman stole second and came home with the eventual winning run on Owen Cordner's two-out triple to right field.

Marietta scored its only run in the sixth and Maryniak worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to end the game.
