The Misericordia University men's volleyball team will travel to Stevens for the MAC Championship match in a battle of nationally-ranked teams, Saturday, April 13 at 7:00
The second-seeded Cougars are ranked 16
th while top-seeded Stevens is ranked second. The Ducks are 29-1 and are the defending MAC and national champions.
This is the second straight postseason meeting between the Cougars and Ducks. MU lost in the semifinals at Stevens a year ago.
Misericordia, 23-10, is making its first appearance in the title match after rallying to beat Messiah, 3-2, Thursday. Stevens swept Arcadia in the semifinals.
In the regular season meeting, the Ducks rallied to take the opening set from the Cougars, 26-24, on their way to a 3-0 win in the Anderson Center.
MU's
Jared Piontkowski had 31 kills against Messiah and went over 1,000 kills for his career. He leads the MAC with 4.65 kills per set while
Anthony DePalma is seventh with 3.10.
Zane Martin is second in the league with .399 hitting percentage while Piontkowski is eighth at .324.
Piontkowski is third in the league with 0.49 aces per set and DePalma is 10
th with 0.34.
Gannon DeFrain went over 1,000 assists for the season in the semifinals and is ranked second in the league with 9.70 per set.
Ben Clendening had six blocks against Messiah and is second in the league with 1.04 per set.
Stevens is led by Koby Sherman who is fifth in the MAC with 3.2 kills per set and sixth in hitting percentage at .338.
The Ducks' Percy Bickford is fourth in hitting percentage at .359 while Louden Moran is fourth with 8.99 assists and eighth with .39 aces per set.
Tyler Hoke leads the league with 1.13 blocks per set.
Saturday's winner will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
