The Misericordia University baseball team grabbed an early lead and never looked back in a 17-3 win over Susquehanna, Tuesday at Tambur Field.

Joe Comins had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs.  Garrett McIlhenney, Brock Bollinger, Connor Maryniak and Brooks Kanwisher all had two hits while Bollinger, Maryniak, Jack Regenye and Jared Hoffman all drove in two runs.

David McCurry struck out four in four innings to earn the win and Max Oliver worked 1.2 innings in relief.  Justin Calvarese struck out six in 2.1 innings and Aidan Paduck struck out two in a perfect ninth.

The Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  Regenye was hit by a pitch and moved up on Bollinger's single to left.  Maryniak singled in a run and Hoffman walked to load the bases in front of Andrew Van Horn's two-out single to center.

MU took an 8-1 lead with five runs in the bottom of the third.  Comins led off with a single to center and advanced on Hoffman's walk.  After Gabe Bunn's sac fly, Kanwisher walked and McIlhenney was HBP to load the bases.  Regenye singled in two runs and Bollinger doubled down the left field line to drive in two more.

Misericordia tacked on four more in the sixth.  Bollinger was HBP to open the inning and Maryniak walked.  One out later, Hoffman double to left center to drive in two runs.  Hoffman later scored on a wild pitch and Bunn walked and eventually scored on Kanwisher's single to center to make it 12-3.

The Cougars added five runs in the bottom of the seventh.  Maryniak doubled in a run and Comins followed with a two-run homer.  Ethan Elmes drew a bases-loaded walk and Shais Roman drove in a run on a fielder's choice to close out the scoring.
