The Misericordia University baseball team opened a three-game series with DeSales with a 7-2 win, Friday afternoon at Tambur Field.
Garrett McIlhenney,
Jack Regenye and
Connor Maryniak all had two hits and
Joe Comins drove in two runs.
Joe Valenti scattered eight hits and allowed just one earned run over seven innings to earn the win.Â
Matt Lanzendorfer pitched two shutout innings in relief.
The Cougars used some two-out magic to take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third. McIlhenney and Regenye singled and Bollinger walked to load the bases. Maryniak reached on an infield single to drive in the first run and Comins drove in two with a single to right field to make it 3-0.
Brooks Kanwisher walked to lead off the fourth and moved to second on
Gabe Bunn's single. Two outs later, Regenye singled to right center to give MU a 4-0 lead.
Bunn reached via HBP with one out in the sixth and moved up on
Owen Cordner's sacrifice bunt. McIlhenney singled in a run and Regenye was hit by a pitch. Bollinger singled to drive in a run and Regenye came all the way around on an outfield error to give the Cougars a 7-0 lead.
