The Misericordia University baseball team had its 10-game winning streak snapped as the Cougars dropped the series opener at Stevens, 4-3, Friday.
Brock Bollinger had two hits for MU and
Jack Regenye had a hit and scored two runs.Â
Connor Maryniak and
Joe Comins both had hits and drove in a run.
Joe Valenti was the tough-luck loser as he allowed just three earned runs over 7.2 innings.
The Ducks took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first as their first four batters reached base.
MU got a run back in the top of the fourth. Regenye reached on an infield single and moved up on a wild pitch before coming around on Maryniak's one-out single up the middle.
Stevens got the run back on a two-out double in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.
Garrett McIlhenney led off the top of the sixth with a walk and Regenye reached via hit by pitch. Bollinger singled through the left side to make it 4-2 and Maryniak reached on an error to load the bases. Comins drove in a run on a ground out to get the Cougars within 4-3, but the threat ended there.
