The Misericordia University baseball team finished a series sweep of Lebanon Valley with a 9-3 win on the road, Monday.
Connor Maryniak struck out six over 5.1 innings to earn the win and helped his own cause with a solo homer as the Cougars won their 10
th straight game to improve to 17-7 overall and 9-1 in the MAC Freedom.
Brock Bollinger added a solo homer and
Joe Comins had two hits.
After giving up a run in the bottom of the first, the Cougars tied it in their next at bat. Maryniak,
Jared Hoffman and
Brooks Kanwisher all walked and
Gabe Bunn reached on a fielder's choice to drive in the tying run.Â
MU took a 3-1 run lead in the third.Â
Garrett McIlhenney drew a lead-off walk and
Jack Regenye was hit by a pitch. Bollinger reached on an error that brought in a run and Comins made it 3-1 with a sacrifice fly to left center.
The Cougars extended their lead to 6-1 with three runs in the sixth. Bunn led off with a single and scored on McIlhenney's one-out single to center. Regenye singled in a run and later scored on an error.
MU added three insurance runs in the eighth to provide the final margin. Bollinger and Maryniak hit back-to-back homers to start the eighth inning to give the Cougars an 8-3 lead. Comins singled through the right side and later scored on
Owen Cordner's two-out double down the left field line.
Matt Lanzendorfer struck out three over the final 2.2 innings.
