Colleen Stengel has been named the head women's volleyball coach at Misericordia University, Chuck Edkins, director of athletics, has announced.

Stengel has spent the last six seasons at Cortland as a graduate assistant, assistant and associate head coach where she helped the Red Dragons to three SUNYAC championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances.

"It is my pleasure to introduce Colleen Stengel as the head coach of our women's volleyball program," said Edkins.  "Her passion and knowledge of the game will be a tremendous asset to our program and will provide our student-athletes with a first-class experience."

Stengel was part of the SUNYAC Coaching Staff of the Year in each of the last three seasons as the Red Dragons compiled a perfect 27-0 league record during that time.

A graduate of Arcadia University where she was a four-year letter winner, Stengel helped the Knights to their first MAC Commonwealth Tournament berth as a senior.

She takes over a team that was 17-17 a year ago and made its fifth straight MAC Freedom Tournament appearance.

"I am excited about the opportunity to be a head coach, especially with a program that has a long winning tradition," said Stengel.  "I am very familiar with the history and success of the MU program and I look forward to building on that success."
