The Misericordia University football team dropped a tough 13-0 decision at Delaware Valley, Saturday.
Jacob Hunter had a team-high 50 yards rushing for the Cougars and the led team on a potential game-tying drive in the fourth quarter.
The Cougars marched 77 yards while consuming more than 13 minutes on the clock to set up a first and goal at the Aggies two yard line.
The drive stalled deep in Delaware Valley territory and the Aggies went the length of the field to score an insurance touchdown.
Gavin Morris led the Cougars with 11 tackles and an interception.
After the teams traded punts throughout the first quarter, the Aggies marched 62 yards on 11 plays to take a 6-0 lead early in the second quarter.
Both defenses continued to dominate the play throughout the rest of the second period and MU trailed 6-0 at halftime.
Del Val took the second-half kick-off and moved into MU territory. The Cougars defense stiffened and MU took over at their own 20-yard line after a 12-yard punt.
MU proceeded to run 21 plays while holding the ball for 13:04.
Facing third-and-10, Hunter scrambled to his left and broke multiple tackles before cutting back up the middle for a 27-yard gain and a first down at the 47-yard line.
Hunter connected with Anthony Rucci for a six-yard gain into Del Val territory. Hunter bounced off a tackler and went around right end to convert a fourth down at the Aggies 43.
After the Cougars converted third-and-long on a Del Val penalty, two tackles for loss backed up MU to their own 35 for a third-and-19.
Hunter scrambled to his right and found Leo Hunsberger for 15 yards over the middle. Mike Rozell made a catch in traffic for an 11-yard gain to convert fourth-and-4 at the Del Val 11.
Facing a third-and-17 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, Hunter scrambled for 17 yards near the left pylon to set up first-and-goal at the Aggies one yard line.
A false start penalty backed MU up and the drive eventually stalled when Hunter was forced out bounds at the Del Val two.
