The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped a 64-39 decision to Lebanon Valley, Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.

Caitlin Sweeney led the Cougars with 12 points in just 16 minutes and
Jocelyn Grosch added 11 points.

Ava Cirigliano had a team-high nine rebounds.

Morgan Janeski opened the scoring with a foul line jumper, but Lebanon Valley responded with a 7-0 run and never trailed on the way to a 20-7 lead after one period.

Samantha Casey made a pair of free throws to open the second quarter, but Lebanon Valley extended its lead to a 32-12 halftime lead.

Sweeney scored seven points in a two-minute span as the Cougars got within 11 points early in the third quarter.

She scored a layup on a fastbreak with 7:51 to go and drained a three-pointer from the left corner less than a minute later.

Sweeney used a nice cross-over dribble before sinking a short jumper to cut the deficit to 36-25 with 5:29 to play in the third quarter.

Lebanon Valley recovered to take a 17-point lead after three periods and pulled away in the fourth quarter.
