The Misericordia University volleyball team swept a tri-match with Illinois College at Kean, Saturday. The Cougars took both ends of the tri-match, 3-1, to improve to 13-6.
Meghan Peters had 13 kills, three aces and 14 digs against Illinois College while
Keira McCaffrey had nine blocks.
McCaffrey had 16 dills and seven blocks against Kean.
The Cougars took the opener against Illinois College, 25-18. Down 15-12, MU used an ace by
Sarah Steeber and three straight Illinois errors to take a 17-15 lead.
Madison Tullo's kill and three more attack errors clinched the win.
Illinois rallied from a 24-21 deficit to win the second set, 30-28.
The Cougars got two kills from
Cassandra Genduso and an ace from
Sarah Journey in a 5-1 run to close out a 25-19 win the third set.
Journey had two aces to key a 6-0 run as the Cougars took a 20-11 lead in the fourth set.
Peters had kills on MU's final three points in a 25-15 win.
Kean took the opener in the nightcap, 25-16, but MU roared back to win three straight in the battle of the Cougars.
Maggie Duda had three aces as MU raced out to a 9-0 lead in the second set against Kean.Â
Kean pulled within 16-15, but McCaffrey had a kill and a block to help MU regain control of a 25-21 win.
Kean came back from a 24-20 hole to tie the third set, but Genduso's kill and another Duda ace clinched the 27-25 win.
Down 16-12 in the fourth set, McCaffrey had a block and a kill as the Cougars scored five straight points to take a 17-16 lead.
Peters' kill broke an 18-18 tie and Genduso and
Jenna Schuda had late kills to seal a 25-22 win.
