Volleyball Remains Perfect in MAC Freedom

The Misericordia University women's vollyeball team remained unbeaten in the MAC Freedom with a 3-1 win over Arcadia, Wednesday night on Doc Mould Court.

The Cougars rallied to win the first two sets, 25-19, 25-22.  After Arcadia came from behind to stay alive with a 28-26 win in the third set, the Cougars closed out the match with a 25-19 win.

Jenna Schuda had 10 kills, 30 assists and seven aces while Keira McCaffrey had 10 kills and nine blocks.  Cassandra Genduso added 10 kills.

Down 17-15 in the opener, Meghan Peters had a kill and Schuda added an ace to key a 4-0 run to give MU a 19-17 lead.

Leading 20-19, the Cougars closed the set with five straight points, including solo block by McCaffrey and three straight kills by Genduso to seal the win.

MU trailed 15-10 in the second, but used a 6-1 spurt to pull even, 16-16. 

Down 22-20, the Cougars got within one on a service error and Genduso and McCaffrey combined for a block on the right side to tie the score.  McCaffrey and Genduso teamed for a block on the other side to put MU in front and Duda followed with an ace.

Rachel LoFaso followed with a smash down the middle for a 25-22 win.

Schuda had four straight aces as the Cougars jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the third set.

Arcadia battled back and eventually won, 28-26, to stay alive.

Madison Tullo's kill in the right corner broke a 10-10 and the Cougars pulled away in the finale.

Tullo and Genduso combined for a block in the middle and Genduso followed with a smash down the right side for a 15-11 lead.

Genduso's cross-court kill from the right side made 24-17 and Jennifer Nicometo finished the 25-19 win with a blast down the left side.
