Aiden Hidlay won their brackets as the Misericordia University men's wrestling team opened the season at the Lycoming Invitational, Sunday.

Anthony Matas finished second while
Phil Montes,
Hayden Best and Tristan Cuellar were third.

Myles Tirpak and
Jariel Severino finished fifth and
Brady Quinn was sixth.

Competing in the freshman/sophomore bracket, Williams won three straight matches to win at 149. After a first-round bye, he recorded two decisions before cruising to a 17-1 tech fall win in the finals.

Hidlay won four straight matches to claim the title at 285 pounds.Â

After giving up the opening takedown in the finals, he escaped and got a takedown to take a 4-3 lead after one period. He added takedowns in each period to win 11-3.

Marston won four straight bouts before dropping a 10-4 decision in the finals at 141.

Matas won his first two matches by tech. fall and advanced to the finals with a 9-7 win before dropping a 13-8 decision in the finals.

Montes won by fall and major decision in his first two bouts at 125 before dropping an 8-2 decision in the semis. He won by fall in the third-place match.

Best went 3-1 at 133, including an 8-1 decision in the consolation match.

Cuellar earned a first-round bye and went 2-1 to finish third at 197.

Tirpak won his two bouts at 157, but medically forfeited his next two bouts to finish fourth.

Severino allowed just one point in each of his first two bouts at 174, but was edged 3-2 in the semis and dropped a 5-1 decision in the consolation final.

Quinn dropped his first bout at 149, but won three straight consolation matches to finish sixth.

Weaver won his first bout at 174 before dropping into the consolation bracket where he won three straight matches.

After dropping his first bout at 184, Anderson won three straight bouts to finish fifth.
