The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped its season opener to Dickinson, 60-51, Thursday night in the Anderson Center.
Emily Romanowski had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and
Chase Purdy added 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Caitlin Landgraf had nine points and seven rebounds.
The Cougars trailed 15-6 after one period, but charged back in the second quarter to get within 26-25 at halftime.
Landgraf made a three-pointer and
Morgan Janeski converted a three-point play to give MU a 6-5 lead midway through the first quarter, but Dickinson went on a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 15-6 lead with 3:27 to go in the first period.
Down 20-9 early in the second quarter, Purdy drove the lane for a layup and Romanowski hit a three-pointer from the right wing.
After a Dickinson bucket, Purdy hit a pull-up jumper in the lane and Landgraf scored on a back-door cut with a feed from Romanowski.
Purdy's putback-and-one got the Cougars within 22-21 with 4:31 to go.
Romanowski went coast-to-coast off a steal and Landgraf made a short jumper along the left baseline to end the first half with MU trailing 26-25.
Trailing 38-29 late in the third quarter, Romanowski buried a deep three-pointer from the left wing and Purdy and Romanowski assisted on each other's fastbreak layup in the final 22 seconds to end the third quarter with MU down, 40-36.
Dickinson opened a double digit lead late in the fourth quarter.
