The Misericordia University hockey team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Wilkes, Friday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.
After a scoreless first period, Wilkes scored both of its goals in a four-minute span early in the second period.
Corbin Scheibel scored with an assist from
Brendan Vettraino to cut the deficit in half midway through the second period.
Ayden Pierce made 43 saves in net, including 19 in the third period, to keep MU within a goal.
Scheibel led the Cougars with six shots and was 4-7 in the faceoff circle while
Zachary Micciche added four shots.
Eric Kotkowski had four blocked shots.
The Cougars will return to the Toyota Sportsplex to face the Colonels, Saturday at 7:00.
