The Misericordia University men's basketball team earned a 70–64 victorty at Swarthmore, Wednesday.
Matt Prociak led the Cougars with 17 points, while
Jack Gallagher posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Eli Stoute had 11 points and
Darryl Wright added 10.
Arvel Chandler opened the scoring nearly a minute into the game with a jumper.
Misericordia then forced a Swarthmore turnover and Prociak knocked down a three-pointer off a
Nate Townsend assist.
Gallagher later drove to the basket for a layup to cap a 7–0 Misericordia run less than two minutes into the game.
Gallagher sank two free throws to give the Cougars a 32–31 lead in the final minute of the first half, but a last-second three-pointer by the Garnet sent Misericordia into halftime trailing, 34–32.
The Cougars came out strong to start the second half as Prociak drilled another three-pointer to spark an 8–0 run over the next two minutes and put Misericordia ahead for good, 40–34.
With just under 10 minutes left, the Cougars went on another 7–0 run to extend their lead to 59–50. Townsend hit a jumper and Gallagher followed with a layup before Chandler capped the run with a three-pointer with 7:27 to play.
Misericordia held a 65–55 advantage with six minutes remaining, but went cold for the next three minutes, allowing Swarthmore to cut the deficit to 68-64 with :24 left.
Prociak sealed the win with two free throws in the final seconds.
Misericordia improves to 5–1 and will host Mount Saint Mary on Saturday at 1 p.m.
