The Misericordia University men's basketball team defeated Mount Saint Mary, 80-45, Saturday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.

Matt Prociak led the Cougars with 18 points and seven rebounds.  Ryan Nasuti was next with nine points as 15 Cougars found the scoring column.

Darryl Wright has five rebounds and five assists.

Mount Saint Mary started off hot as they scored the first nine points of the game.

That didn't faze Misericordia as they rattled off a 14-2 scoring run.

After a pair of free throws from Will Anozie and Ace Varella, Josh Pelzer made a three-pointer and Nasuti converted a three-point play to get the Cougars within 11-10.

Two straight layups by D.J. Orloff gave the Cougars a 14-11 lead.

The Knights tied it at 14, but MU scored the next 10 points with points by Prociak, Arvel Chandler, and Nate Townsend.

Three-pointers from Nasuti, Prociak and Wright stretched the Misericordia to 43-24 at halftime.

The second half started out with both teams making shots, but Misericordia put the game away with a 13-1 scoring run which featured three-pointers by Eli Stoute, Jack Gallagher and Chandler along with a pair of layups from Prociak., while Prociak put in two layups.

The Cougars sealed the win with an 18-7 run to improve to 6-1.
