The Misericordia University men's basketball team got back in the win column with a 60-52 victory over Eastern in the consolation game of the RMC Coaches Tournament, Tuesday afternoon in Ashland, VA.
Jack Gallagher had 13 points and eight rebounds while
Nate Townsend had 13 points, five rebounds and four steals.Â
Arvel Chandler had eight points and six rebounds and
Matt Prociak added eight rebounds.
After Eastern scored in the opening minute, Gallagher converted a three-point play and the Cougars never trailed again.
D.J. Orloff's layup keyed an 11-1 run late in the second half.
Ryan Nasuti made back-to-back three-pointers and Chandler capped the run with a three-pointer to give MU a 29-12 lead with 4:28 to play in the first half.
Eastern closed the half on a 5-0 run to cut MU's lead to 32-22 at halftime.
Misericordia maintained a double-digit lead for much of the second half until a late Eastern charge cut MU's lead to 55-52 with 2:30 remaining.
Gallagher answered with another three-point play and Chandler made two free throws in the final minute.
