The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team used a big first quarter to key a 21-7 win over Misericordia University in the Cougars home opener, Tuesday at Mangelsdorf Field.

Rachel Shook gave MU a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, but the Mules answered with eight straight goals to take an 8-1 lead with 5:37 left in the first quarter.

Alicia Pileggi scored for MU with 3:47 left in the opening period.

Shook, Pileggi and
Melanie Carbo led Misericordia with two goals each.

Shook had a team-high five draw controls and Pileggi and
Ashtyn Torbert had four each.

Pileggi and Torbert scored back-to-back goals late in the third quarter and Shook scored to open the fourth quarter to get the Cougars within 16-7, but Muhlenberg closed with a 5-0 run.
