The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team rallied for a 12-10 win over Grove City to pick up their first win of the year, Thursday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Alicia Pileggi had five goals and
Rachel Shook had three goals and an assist as the Cougars overcame an early 5-0 deficit.
Ashtyn Torbert added a goal and two assists and eight draw controls and
Ryann Gross made seven saves in goal.
After falling behind 5-0 through one period, the Cougars scored seven straight goals in the second quarter.
Pileggi and
Adison Harner scored less than a minute apart and
Delaney Campanella cut the margin to 5-3 with 9:44 to go in the second quarter.
Pileggi scored two straight goals to tie it and Shook followed with back-to-back goals to give MU a 7-5 lead with :37 left.
Grove City scored with :08 to go before halftime and tied it early in the third period.
Misericordia went ahead for good with four straight goals to take an 11-7 lead early in the fourth quarter.
After three goals by Grove City, Torbert added an insurance goal with 3:14 to play.
