MU Men Knock Off Stevens

The Misericordia University men's basketball team put together its most complete effort of the season to beat Stevens, 75-66, Saturday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.
 
Kevin Lazdowsky led MU with 22 points and Matt Prociak added 21.  R.J. Weise had 15 points and Jack Gallagher grabbed 11 rebounds.
 
The Cougars moved into sole possession of second place in the MAC Freedom while handing first-place Stevens its second straight loss.
 
Trailing 32-29 early in the first half, the Cougars hit three consecutive three-pointers to take the lead for good.
 
The Cougars moved the ball around before Weise drilled a deep three-pointer from the left wing to tie the game, 32-32, with 18:48 to go.
 
Weise found Prociak for a three-pointer on the next possession to MU in front and Lazdowsky capped the 9-0 run with another long-range shot for a 38-32 lead.
 
Weise scored eight straight points to extend MU's lead to 48-36.
 
He drove the left side of the lane for a layup high off the glass and converted the three-point play to make it 43-34.
 
He followed with an up-and-under layup and capped the spurt with a long three-pointer from the top of the key with 14:17 to go.
 
Leading 49-40 with 12:44 to play, the Cougars went on a 17-6 run to put the game away.
 
Lazdowsky converted a three-point play off a putback and Prociak made a turn-around jumper to make it 56-43.
 
Prociak drained a three-pointer from the top of the key to beat the shot clock and Darryl Wright followed with a steal and a layup to give MU a 63-46 lead.
 
Arvel Chandler buried a three-pointer from the left corner to give the Cougars their largest lead of the game, 66-46, with 7:36 to go and the Cougars maintained a double digit lead until the final minute.
