Brendan Stanley scored the game-winning goal with :09 remaining to lift the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team a 10-9 win over Albright, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Stanley took a pass in front of the cage from
Connor Bevan and stuffed a shot inside the right post to give MU its fourth straight victory.
Bevan led the Cougars with three goals and three assists and
Aiden D'Ambrosio and
Jared Pelliccione both scored twice.
Stanley,
Connor Gundersen and
William Troiano all added goals for the Cougars.
Chris Dindino made 17 saves and had five ground balls and
Travis Burton added four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Bevan scored from the left flank to give the Cougars an early lead less than five minutes into the game.
Gundersen came from behind the net and whipped a shot inside the left most to make it 2-0, midway through the opening period.
Bevan and Troiano scored less than 30 seconds apart in the second period and D'Ambrosio used a spin move to make it 5-1 with 9:43 to go in the first half.
Albright rallied to score five of the next goals to tie score, 6-6, early in the third period.
The teams traded goals over the final 22 minutes to set the stage for Stanley's heroics.
