Penn College Takes Down MU Men’s Lax

The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team fell on the road to Penn College, 15-3, in their non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
 
Patrick Dwyer put up goals in the first and fourth quarters while Connor Bevan scored on the man advantage in the second.
 
Dwyer led the Cougars with four shots on goal. Michael Scarpulla recorded four ground balls while Trey Stasse and Travis Burton shared the team lead in caused turnovers with two apiece. Rusty Carr won five faceoffs.
 
The Wildcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first before Dwyer found the back of the cage at 2:49. Stasse picked up an assist on Dwyer's second goal of the season.
 
Goalkeeper Chris Dindino kept the game within Misericordia's reach with back-to-back saves early in the second quarter.
 
Dwyer came close to scoring again midway through the second, ringing the post on a shot.
 
MU drew a green card penalty at 9:29 and got to work on the man advantage, setting up shop in the offensive zone. Bevan scored on a feed from Dwyer, who was credited with an assist on the man-up goal at 9:12.
 
The Cougars shut down the Penn College offense for the remainder of the quarter and ended the half trailing, 6-2.
 
The Wildcats rattled off three unanswered goals in the third to take a 9-2 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
 
The hosts added two more goals in the early stages of the fourth quarter and held a comfortable 11-2 advantage.
 
Misericordia was assessed a minute-long penalty at 12:08. On the penalty kill, MU forced a turnover and moved the ball down the field. Dwyer netted his second goal of the game and third of the season at 11:24. William Troiano assisted on the man-down marker.
 
The Wildcats responded with four more goals to close out the 15-3 victory.
 
The Cougars remain on the road, visiting Kean on Wednesday at 7:00.
