MU Rally Falls Short Against Leb Val

Lebanon Valley jumped out to a big first quarter lead and held off a late Misericordia University rally to beat the Cougars, 17-8, in women's lacrosse, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter, the Cougars played the Dutchmen even over the final three periods.

Rachel Shook led the Cougars with two goals, an assist and six draw controls.

Delaney Campanella, Melanie Carbo and Alicia Pileggi all scored two goals for the Cougars.

Samantha Mahoney had a team-high four ground balls and Ryann Gross made 15 saves in goal.

Down 14-4 early in the fourth period, Shook bounced in a shot to start a 3-0 MU run with 12:49 left in the game.

Carbo took a pass from Shook and placed a shot inside the right post and scored on a free-position shot just over a minute later to get within 14-7 with 9:34 to play.

That was as close as the Cougars got as Leb Val scored three times in the final 7:34.
