Three Misericordia University standouts have been named the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sport.
Jared Piontkowski was named in volleyball while
Lydia Barbour was selected in tennis and
Brett Herman earned the honor in men's golf.
A senior student-athlete from each of the 11 spring sports (baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's outdoor track & field, and men's volleyball) was recognized for their strong academic and athletic prowess.

Piontkowski led the MAC in kills and kills per set this season while earning his second All-MAC First Team selection and fourth All-Conference selection overall. He was a second-team All-American and ranks fifth among active D-III players in career kills.

He is a business administration major with 3.91 GPA expected to graduate this spring.

He was also a 2024 Academic All-MAC selection and a 2024 CSC Academic All-American. Piontkowski was also named Misericordia Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2025.

Barbour is a three-time All-MAC Freedom honoree while helping Misericordia to two MAC Freedom title matches.

She earned second-team recognition in 2022 and 2023 and honorable mention nod in 2024.
Â
Barbour maintains a 3.99 GPA as an occupational science major.
Â
Her academic performance led to seven Dean's List honors, plus three times on the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
Â
Herman has been one of MU's top players throughout his career. He was the MAC Freedom  runner-up in 2023. He recorded a 152 (+8) 36-hole score, earning First Team All-MAC Freedom honors.

Herman majored in sport management and is working toward an MBA.
Â
He earned a 3.95 GPA and was a member of both the Dean's List and MAC Academic Honor Roll.
