Three different players recorded hat tricks as the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Appreciation Day with 19-8 win over FDU-Florham to clinch a MAC Freedom postseason berth, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Connor Bevan had four goals and five assists and Brendan Stanly added three goals and an assist while
Jared Pelliccione scored three times.
Ty Murawski and
Patrick Dwyer both had two goals and two assists and
Connor Gundersen had two goals and an assist.Â
Jake Louis scored twice and
Mark Kenny added a goal.
Sean Wallace and
Matt Coates combined to make 14 saves.
Trey Stasse had five ground balls and caused four turnovers to become MU's career leader with 91 CTOs.
Gundersen gave the Cougars the lead less than two minutes into the game and Stanley found Bevan with a long pass for a 1-on-1 goal with 9:05 left in the first quarter.
Murawski bounced a shot inside the right post to ignite a 5-0 run to give MU a 7-2 lead midway through the second period.
Bevan threaded a diagonal pass to Pelliccione on the right post where he juked the goalie and scored in the empty net to make it 9-3.
Stanley scored three straight goals to key another 5-0 spurt as the Cougars stretched their lead to 19-6 with 9:38 to play.
The Cougars will travel to Stevens in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday at 7:00.
