Misericordia University volleyball standout
Jared Piontkowski has been named the MAC Division III Commissioner Association Men's Athlete of the Year.
Ten DIIICA Regional winners along with the national award wines will be announced later this month.
Piontkowski was Misericordia University's Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Wendy's Athletes of the Year as well as the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men's volleyball.
He graduated in May with a degree in business administration.
He earned All-America status for the second straight season and finished 10
th in the nation with 4.88 points per set and 4.2 kills per set. He broke his own single-season school record with 504 kills.
Piontkowski was ninth in the MAC with 0.77 blocks per set and 10
th in hitting at .290.
His 28 kills against Lasell was the fifth-highest single-match kill total in the league and he recorded the league's highest three-set total with 20 kills against King's.
The Cougars finished 22-12 and advanced to the MAC semifinals while playing the seventh-toughest schedule in the nation.
