The Misericordia University men's soccer team won its second straight game with a 3-1 win at Wilkes, Tuesday night.
Reese Dieffenderfer,
Kohen Stiles and
Noah Romig all scored for the Cougars while
Spencer Pisani and
Shane Macko added assists.
Thomas D'Arco made four saves in goal.
Dieffenderfer took a perfect pass in stride from Pisani at 25 yards out and carried to the 10-yard mark where he lifted a shot over a sliding Wilkes keeper for a 1-0 lead at 21:55.
The Cougars had two golden opportunities to add to their lead late in the first half.
Stiles hit the crossbar at 31:33 and Romig chipped the rebound just over the bar.
Stiles made his next opportunity count just one minute later. After winning a loose ball in the box, he drove a low shot from the left wing that deflected of the Wilkes keeper to make it 2-0 at 32:43.
Wilkes cut the margin in half at 73:20, but MU responded with an insurance goal 10 minutes later.
Elijah Uray's shot was deflected high in the air and Macko won the loose ball along the end line. He squeezed a pass by the keeper and Romig stuffed a shot into the upper left corner to give MU a 3-1 lead at 83:26.
