The Misericordia University hockey team's third period rally came up short in a 7-3 loss to Alvernia, Saturday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.

Brendan Vettraino scored twice for the second straight night and Ethan Hollingsworth added a goal.

Alvernia took a 5-0 lead early in the third period before Hollingsworth scored a power play goal with an assist from Jack Tos midway through the third period.

Alvernia answered with a pair of power play goals in less than a minute.

Vettraino added a power play goal a minute later and scored again less than a minute later.
