The Misericordia University men's basketball team's second half rally came up short in an 82-69 loss to Arcadia, Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.
Matt Prociak led the Cougars with 18 points and Jack Gallagher had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Arvel Chandler added 14 points.
Down 49-31 at halftime, the Cougars went on a 19-5 run over the first eight minutes of the second half to get within 54-50.
Neither team scored in the first two minutes of the second half before Prociak's lay-in with 17:54 to go.
Prociak followed with a layup off a feed from Gallagher and Chandler drilled a deep three-pointer from the top of the key to get within 49-38.
Back-to-back putbacks from Gallagher and D.J. Orloff cut the margin to 49-42 with 14:36 to play.
Chandler hit a step-back three from the top of the key and hit another three from the right corner to within 54-50 with 12:00 remaining.
Arcadia answered with a 10-0 run to seal the win and give the Cougars their first league loss.
