MU Men Use Big Second Half to Down King's

The Misericordia University men's basketball team beat King's, 84-64, Wednesday night.

Jack Gallagher scored a game-high 24 points and added eight rebounds. Eli Stoute followed with 17 points and Matt Prociak added 14 points and led with nine rebounds.

The first points for Misericordia came on a Gallagher turnaround layup in the paint.

After the Monarchs knocked down a three, Stoute answered for MU with a three-pointer from the right wing and a Euro-step layup in the paint.

Misericordia took the lead by going on a 9–2 scoring run. Gallagher opened the run with a fast-break layup and Prociak scored his first points on a jumper in the paint off a rebound.

Daryl Wright followed with a contested layup and a made free throw to put the Cougars on top, 14-13, with 11:58 left in the first half.

Nate Townsend capped the run with another contested layup. Gallagher scored the next five points for Misericordia, finishing a layup in the restricted area and converting two free throws to make it 20-16 midway through the first half.

Another free throw from Gallagher began a 9–0 scoring run, highlighted by free throws from Prociak, jumpers from the left elbow by both Arvel Chandler and Prociak, and a right-handed layup by Gallagher to give the Cougars a 29-19 lead with 5:43 to go.

The Monarchs responded with a 6–0 run to cut the deficit to four, but Gallagher beat the buzzer with a long jumper from just inside the right wing, sending the Cougars into halftime with a 35–29 lead.

The Cougars opened the second half strong with another 9–0 scoring run. Stoute started the spurt with a three-pointer from the left corner.

Prociak followed with a jumper from the left elbow and Chandler added a layup off a long pass. Stoute capped the run with a driving layup to put MU up, 44-31, less than four minutes into the second half.

Prociak scored the next points for MU, knocking down a long jumper from the top of the key and finishing a layup off a rebound in the paint.

Misericordia then went on another 7–0 run, highlighted by a layup from Gallagher, a floater in the paint by Chandler, and a three-pointer from the left wing by Ryan Nasuti to give the Cougars a 57-40 lead midway through the second half.

D.J. Orloff and Will Anozie answered with back-to-back layups in the paint. Nasuti followed with an up-and-under layup and a made free throw to push Misericordia's lead to 64-49 with 7:22 to play.

Gallagher scored the Cougars' next seven points with two layups, a turnaround jumper and a free throw.

Misericordia connected on back-to-back three-pointers, with Chandler hitting from the top of the key and Wright knocking one down from the left wing to make it 77-58 with 3:08 to go.

Stoute added the next three points with a free throw and a putback layup off his own miss. Orloff closed out the scoring with a fast-break layup.
