Matt Prociak had a double-double to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 72-49 win over Stevens in the MAC Freedom opener, Wednesday night on Doc Mould Court.
Prociak had 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and Eli Stoute had 13 points and six rebounds. Ryan Nasuti scored 12 points.
The Cougars never trailed after opening the game on a 7-0 run.
Locked in a defensive struggle midway through the first half, hit a short jumper along the left baseline and converted the three-point play to give MU a 16-9 lead with 10:07 to play.
Prociak drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key on the next possession to make it 19-9.
D.J. Orloff stole an inbounds and drained a shot form just inside half-court to beat the buzzer and give MU a 36-22 lead at halftime.
Nate Townsend opened the second half on a back door cut and the Ducks never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Nasuti hit back-to-back three-pointers from the left wing and added a fastbreak layup to fuel a 10-0 spurt to stretch MU's lead to 55-35 with 10:10 remaining.
