MU Volleyball Hosting "Chasing Greatness" Game

10/21/2026 11:54:00 AM

The Misericordia University women's volleyball team will hold a Chasing Greatness Awareness Game in partnership with the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children when the Cougars host Eastern, Friday, October 23 at 6:00.

Chasing Greatness supports people 18 years and younger with hearing loss by creating funding opportunities for hearing aids and the enhancement of life skills.

The Cougars and Eagles will participate in a "Silent Set" to promote awareness, education, and advocacy for individuals with hearing loss.

At the beginning of the first set, spectators are asked to remain silent. Instead of cheering with their voices, fans are encouraged to support the athletes through applause in ASL. Once a team reaches 9 points in the set, the silence is broken. Fans are then invited to cheer as loudly as they can, creating a powerful moment that symbolizes the value of every voice and highlights the importance of hearing, communication, and inclusion.

Individuals from the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children and members of the MU volleyball team will sign the National Anthem prior to the game.
