The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team opened the season with an 18-6 win over Lycoming on a foggy Wednesday afternoon on Mangelsdorf Field.
Delaney Campanella led Misericordia with five goals and three assists and
Alicia Pileggi added four goals and two assists.
Kristen Travaglini had three goals and two assists and
Riley Fischer had two goals and an assist while
Adison Harner added two goals.
Ashtyn Torbert had a goal and two assists and a team-high 10 draw controls.
Ryann Gross made five saves to earn the win in goal.
Tied 2-2 midway through the first period,
Adison Harner fired a low shot inside the right post to put MU in front for good, 3-2, with 4:19 to play in the first quarter.
The tally ignited a 9-0 run for the Cougars.
Campanella scored twice in the second quarter as the Cougars took a 9-2 lead into halftime.
Pileggi and Fischer scored less than a minute apart in the opening minute of the third quarter to make it 11-2.
MU scored three straight goals later in the third period and added another 4-0 spurt to put the game away.
