The Misericordia University men's basketball team fell to DeSales University, 86–70, in the regular season finale, Saturday afternoon in the Anderson Center.
Matt Prociak led the Cougars with 25 points while
Jack Gallagher posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Eli Stoute added 11 points.
Gallagher opened the game by knocking down a three-pointer from the right corner to give Misericordia a 3–0 lead early.
After a basket by DeSales, Stoute connected on a three-pointer, followed by a tip-in from Gallagher and a
Darryl Wright layup to give the Cougars a 10–2 advantage.
With Misericordia up 14–6, Stoute hit a step-back jumper along the baseline.
Trailing with just under four minutes remaining in the half, Prociak scored nine consecutive points for the Cougars as Misericordia went into halftime down 35–30.
To open the second half, Prociak converted under the rim and then knocked down a three-pointer nearly a minute later as the Cougars trailed 41–35.
Gallagher drove and finished at the cup on back-to-back possessions to trim the deficit to 44–39, but Misericordia was unable to string together consistent defensive stops as the Bulldogs extended the lead to 60–50 at the midway point of the half.
With five minutes remaining, the Cougars pulled within 69–63, but DeSales closed the game on a 17–7 run to secure the 86–70 victory.
The Cougars will travel to Arcadia in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday.
